The new Boat House was completed in Hyde Park in May 2008 and was the first new building to be built in Hyde Park in over 50 years.
Commissioned and built by BlueBird Boats with architects Graham Ford and Francis Scott, the new building includes ticketing facilities, the Boat House kiosk run by E C Soft-Ice, new landing stages and a Visitor Centre.
The Visitor Centre hosts a fabulous range of park-related merchandise and selection of gifts, from toys, gardening tools and nature boxes for children through to souvenirs, books on London’s Royal Parks, biscuits and teas, cosmetics, aprons and tea-towels and unique jewelry designed especially by Rebecca Grima for The Boat House.
The Visitor Centre also provides a meeting point for friends, an Advice and Information Centre and a First-Aid station.
You can hire a row or pedal boat or alternatively, if feeling a little more relaxed, take the Solarshuttle on a round trip on the Serpentine and disembark at the other side and visit the Diana Fountain.
